wow! it's been a crazy couple of weeks, which is why i haven't had time to blog since eden and i left on our road trip. it was an amazing trip. really nice to spend some quality time with the griff b4 i move to ny.. check out some photos from our trip...
overally road trip tally:
kms: 1300
are we there yets? 3
marshmallow toasting sessions: 2
wrong turns and long cuts: 3
tanties (eden) : 2
tanties (daddy) : 3
and the comment that made it all worthwhile (from my six year old son, eden):
"daddy, i love camping out in the bush"... ahh, brings a tear to the eye.
apart from road-tripping adventures, it's been pretty much family christmas mayhem. it's always nice to spend time with the family over christmas - but also always nice to leave the city behind and go hang out with the bush hippies over new years.
i'll write some more when i get back from confest.. (festival is much better than shitty website :))
happy new year.

on the road
i've been a bit too busy to blog lately.. have been festivalling up again with frl last week. awesome music, beautiful weather - swimming every day. ahhhh. and then trying to get things organised for the move to nyc. only about 1 week left in melbourne to get everything organised and say goodbye to everybody!
some festival photos on flickr if you want to see.
i spent two and a half hours at the US consulate on friday waiting for my visa appointment. fortunately, they had a copy of creation magazine in the waiting room. kind of a scary omen i thought. chock-full of insightful proofs for creationism. finally the someon has the courage to expose the darwinian consipiracy for what it is! my favourite was the article on ligers. conclusive proof for genesis if ever i have seen it.
the little griff and i are currently waiting in a car rental place for a van to go travelling. apparently they misplaced our booking, so we have to wait until they clean out another van for us. so far we've been waiting for two hours. fortunately eden is one of the most patient 6 year olds i have ever met, which is lucky 'cause we're about to spend 10 days on the road together. i might have a different opinion by the time we get back :))
anyway, hopefully i'll have some good photos to post when we get back.

pandora's (music) box
just found a brilliant web site.. pandora asks you to select a musical artist that you like, and then plays a radio stream of similar types of music. i had a brief play with it and it chose some really nice tunes from artists i had never heard of!! way cool...

ooooh. i feel sick
okay, so i lied about going to bed... but i just stumbled upon a really cool animation and just had to share..
in other important news, absurd patents, and gollum, the cool wikipedia browser. if you're as hooked on wikipedia as me, you'll dig this. also discovered that wikipedia doesn't have an entry for ani difranco, one of my favourite musicians. if you're a fan, and you get to it before me, you can write the entry :))
i also have to rave about stumbleupon. if you haven't seen it yet, check it out. it's guaranteed totally addictive. on the other hand, maybe don't check it out unless you want to be blogging crazy f-ing websites at 12:30am when you really need to be in bed.

festivals: 1 down, 5 to go
summer is officially here. just got back from earthcore last night. not really my scene (i actually slept on both friday and sat nights. definitely against the spirit of the festival), but had an awesome time. see photos here. highlights included jelly wrestling, dudie swamp divas, my spontaneous jamiriquai impersonation, and general lushing out in the sun.
the australian film industry is back with a vengeance. the australian film industry awards actually gave awards to good films! after a hiatus of several years, the industry has this year produced such gems as look both ways, little fish, the proposition, and the magician, seeming to suggest that australian films might be worth watching again. for those of you overseas people who have probably never seen any aussie films (except maybe priscilla, or crocodile dundee), they have a grittiness and realness that is totally missing from hollywood, and much more akin to european arthouse.
okay. definitely past my bedtime - still haven't really caught up my sleep from the weekend. til then.
